Thursday 21 April 4:00pm - 5:00pm (Adelaide time) Presented by Professor Shane Dawson
Models of education have dramatically shifted in the past few years and fuelled by the pandemic, there have been significant investments in the development and implementation of advanced technologies. This lecture explores the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence on teaching and learning. It’s a timely opportunity for researchers and practitioners to examine and reflect on how education is changing and how we can collectively inform and support the field through an evidenced based approach.
Professor Shane Dawson is a world-renowned expert in Digital Learning as well as the Executive Dean of Education Futures and Professor of Learning Analytics at the University of South Australia. He also overseas the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L) which focuses on the complex relationship between human and artificial cognition, how it changes society, knowledge processes, and teaching and learning. He has published widely on a range of topics including the application of learner ICT interaction data to inform and benchmark teaching and learning quality. His current research interests relate to complex systems, AI, and education leadership to aid adoption and application of digital learning.
Attendance at both workshops is required to receive the Certificate of attendance and course credit into the Graduate Certificate in Education Studies (Digital Learning).
For this workshop, you will be using interactive software, H5P. Please access the h5p.com website prior to the workshop for their free 30-day trial.
You will also be using zoom to access the workshop.
Conversational English proficiency is required.

Introduces the topic area and breakout workshopping to understand what the research literature says regarding the benefits and challenges of Interactive Learning.
Creating an interactive learning artefact using H5P Saturday 7 May 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Adelaide time) Presented by Dr John Kennedy
You will be given an overview of the software which enables academics and lecturers to create interactive, informative and engaging learning content. You will learn how to easily create, share and reuse your own good quality learning content including presentations, videos, quizzes and timelines using the H5P interface.
Dr John Kennedy is a lecturer in STEM Education with UniSA Education Futures and a researcher within the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L). He was a Physics teacher and Head of Science for 15 years before moving into academic research. His industry engaged research sits at the nexus of educational theory and classroom practice. John's research also focusses on expanding methodologies for real world impact and effective change in schools. He has expertise in developing engaging digital pedagogies and currently teaches Digital Learning at UniSA.
