“Firstly, getting to know the local community made me feel more connected to my new surroundings. You could do this by joining local community groups, volunteering or attending events in the area. Taking the time to explore nearby amenities, such as grocery stores, medical facilities, and recreational spaces, can also contribute to a sense of familiarity and comfort in new surroundings.”
Saloni also recommends becoming familiar with the city’s public transport system.

“They provide international students with an opportunity to meet other students, make friends and build a support network. Attending these events can provide you with a valuable opportunity to engage with other students, build connections and explore new interests."
Orientation events help students learn about and access important resources and information, such as visa regulations, accommodation options and support services available on campus. Saloni also recommends attending career fairs, cultural events and social events.
