Shaoyi

  • Master of Engineering (Electrical Power), currently in final year. Also graduated from the UniSA Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) minus-thick plus-thick

“Shaoyi, I am from Shaanxi Province. I am currently studying for a Master of Engineering (electrical power) at the University of South Australia. Before that, I got my bachelor’s degree majored in electrical and electronic engineering. UniSA offer me some real industry-related projects/internships which enable me to accumulate real industry experience during my studies. For example, my graduation project is to transplant the functions in the field of control system engineering in MATLAB, and re-code them in Python. I think these practical projects are very beneficial to international students. As a result, I have found a job in Lai switchboard, a top electrical appliance manufacturer in Australia, even I haven’t finished my master’s degree. In the meantime, I am also working as a student ambassador at UniSA.”

  • Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours), graduated in December 2021 (first class) minus-thick plus-thick

“My name is Inky, I hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management (Honour). I had accomplished my study at the end of last year and was awarded the First-Class Honour. The research which I carried out in last year was regarding explore design solutions to reduce the transmission of Covid-19 in Australian Medi-Hotels. The reason we chose this topic was to develop some potential design solutions, which can be served as a design basis and framework to be applied combating future viruses as hotel quarantine policy has been lifted already.

Recently, I become an accredited building surveyor in the South Australia, and I am qualified to sign off on some building assessments.  I wouldn’t say I am a smart guy as I literally faced numerous hardships in study when I began the first semester in university. It is understandable that people feel disorientated in the beginning of a new life however it is also quite critical to quickly get use to it and find out the correct method to sort out the problems. If being diligent, innovative and self-disciplined, at the end of the day, any hardships can be simply overcome. Finally, don’t be complacent all the time as there are always some new challenges in the life which requires sufficient effort on it.”
