What inspired you to study at UniSA?
"The course content and the university's location being in Adelaide itself were my first attraction. I was very much keen about the social work practise studio when I was exploring about the course at the university."
What do you enjoy most about studying your program/course at UniSA?
"The tutorials are very interesting and organized in a fun way. I love the group discussion we have at class and above all, I appreciate the support provided by lecturers, especially for international students."
Learning from experience is an important part of the study experience at UniSA. Have you undertaken any practical experiences during your studies?
"Yes, I have two social work placements to complete each 500 hours in my total degree. It's a great learning opportunity. I managed to get a job ain the agency where I did my first placement and I totally enjoy it."
How would you describe the quality of teaching staff? How have they supported you during your studies?
"My teaching staffs have been highly supportive and motivating especially with the challenges I had experienced during my studies due to my vision impairment. They have been very flexible and considerate of my needs and at times when I wanted to give up, I have talked to them and they have been very much supportive and encouraging."
What did you think of the campus facilities and support services?
"I have attended the medical support and they are very nice. The library support team are also very active and supportive. Being able to access support from campus central was something that helped me a lot in my initial adjustment at the university. The magnifying class that the disability services provided me for use during my studies has been something that has entirely changed my life. I had no idea about a device as such as we do not get that in my country and with this new device, I feel more confident about pursuing my studies and professional career."
Why did you choose Adelaide and what was your first impression? What do you like most about Adelaide?
"Adelaide to me is a very convenient city for any international student and especially for students with a vision impairment like myself. I find the people here are very friendly and it is easy to get around. I like the quiet nature of the place as it makes me feel relaxed and more focused on studies."
What advice would you give to a student considering coming to Adelaide and studying at UniSA?
"Come with an open mind. Do attend the orientation and feel ensured that there are every kind of support services for students that you could possibly imagine. It's just about asking and inquiring about such services and accessing them."
How do you think UniSA will help you succeed in your career?
"I have used the career services and the staff there are very helpful and open. The volunteering opportunities at UniSA has provided me with additional opportunities to gain new experiences, make friends from different walks of life and learn more about the work culture in Australia."
